Pu Yi, Henry
Pu Yi, Henry (1906–67) Last Emperor of China (1908–11). His reign name was Hsuan Tung. Deposed after the formation of the Chinese republic, he was temporarily rescued from obscurity to become President, later ‘Emperor’, of the Japanese puppet state of
Manchukuo in 1932. Captured by Soviet forces (1945), he was delivered to Mao Zedong and imprisoned (1949–59). He later worked as a gardener in Beijing.
