Lorenz, Konrad Zacharias

Lorenz, Konrad Zacharias (1903–89) Austrian zoologist, a founder of ethology. He observed that instinct played a major role in animal behaviour, as for example in imprinting. He shared the 1973 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine, with Nikolaas Tinbergen and Karl von Frisch.
