Juárez, Benito Pablo (1806–72) President of Mexico (1858–62, 1867–72). Juárez was exiled (1853–55) by
Santa Anna. As president, he defeated the conservatives in the ‘War of Reform’ and headed resistance to the French invasion (1862) until the fall of
Maximilian (1867).
