Christie, Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa

Christie, Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa (1891–1976) English author. A prolific writer of detective stories, The Mysterious Affair at Styles (1920) introduced her most famous character, Hercule Poirot. Murder at the Vicarage (1930) featured the aged sleuth Miss Marple. Other novels include The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (1926), Murder on the Orient Express (1934), and And Then There Were None (1939). Her plays include The Mousetrap (1952), the longest-running play in London. Many of her novels have been made into films.
