Caro, Sir Anthony

Caro, Sir Anthony (1924– ) British sculptor. He is best known for distinctive ‘structures’ made from ‘found’ metal objects welded together in such a way that they keep their original identity, but also create a definite mood. They go beyond constructivism in their expressiveness. He often places his work on the floor so as to involve the spectator on an intimate level. He worked as an assistant to Henry Moore.
