Buñuel, Luis

Buñuel, Luis (1900–83) Spanish film director. Buñuel and Salvador Dali collaborated on the surrealist masterpiece Un Chien Andalou (1928). L'Age d'Or (1930) was ferociously critical of the church and social hypocrisy. Other films include Viridiana (1961), Belle de Jour (1966), and The Discreet Charms of the Bourgeoise (1974).
