sulphur-reducing organism(domains Archaea and Bacteria) The phenotype which utilizes sulphur-containing compounds, rather than oxygen, in its respiratory pathways, often releasing hydrogen sulphide. Both archaebacteria and bacteria include sulphur-reducing phenotypes.
