Urochordata (tunicates; phylum Chordata) Subphylum comprising the seasquirts, with reliable fossils from the Permian, and possible remains in Silurian sediments. Sea-squirts have tadpole-like larvae with notochords in their tails, a feature that links them with the chordates.
