Tribes, the twelve. The traditional composition and division of the Jewish people. The twelve tribes were supposedly descended from the sons and grandsons of the patriarch
Jacob. They include Reuben, Simeon (Levi), Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Benjamin, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Ephraim, and Manasseh.
