Tantrika (Skt., ‘relating to Tantra’). A Hindu classification of ritual (
pūjā) in opposition to Vaidika (relating to
Veda). Tantric ritual follows the basic Vedic pattern of daily rites (
nitya), occasional rites (
naimittika), and rites for the attainment of desires (
kāma), but differs in content. See also
