Nihaṅg (Pañjābī, ‘without anxiety’). Militant core of Sikh Khālsā. Nihaṅg Siṅghs arose in the time of Gurū Gobind Siṅgh whose Dasam Granth they particularly revere. Nihaṅgs are distinguishable by their dark blue shirt and tall, tightly tied turban, surrounded by a steel ring. As well as the Five Ks they carry steel weapons. For Nihaṅgs iron/steel symbolizes God's might. Cannabis is used to aid meditation.
