1. In Jainism, the kevala (-jñāna), the absolute knowledge of isolation, the attribute of a kevalin. Kevala refers to the state of isolation of the jīva from the ajīva, attained through ascetic practices which burn off one's karma residues, releasing one from bondage to the cycle of death and rebirth.

2. In Sāṃkhya-Yoga, an adjective meaning both ‘isolated, exclusive, pure, uncompounded’ and ‘whole, entire, absolute, and perfect’, referring to the state of kāivalya and one who has attained it.
