Jāmī, Mawlānā Nūr al-Dīn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān (1414–92 (AH 817–98)). Muslim
Sūfī poet of the
Naqshbandiy(y)a order, known as
khātam al-shuʿarāʾ, ‘the seal of the poets’. He immersed himself in the teaching of
Ibn ʿArabī, but united this with the vision of
Jalāl al-Dīn Rūmī. His best-known poetic work (
Haft Awrang, The Seven Thrones) explores, through classical examples, how human love is transformed into the symbol and vehicle of divine love.
