Eger, Akiba ben Moses, known also as Akiva Gins (1761–1837). German
rabbi. Despite the opposition of the reform movement, he became unofficial
chief rabbi of Posen where he established a large
yeshivah. Various editions of his
responsa were published both in his lifetime and after his death.
