Dispensationalism. Millennial scheme of biblical interpretation. It divides history into seven ‘dispensations’, in which God deals differently, and progressively, with humanity. Dispensationalism is earliest associated with the Plymouth Brother (Brethren, Plymouth), J. N. Darby (1800–82).
