Bugaku (Jap., ‘dance music’ or ‘dance entertainment’). Ceremonial dance and music used in Shinto, Buddhist, and Imperial Court festivals and rituals of Japan since the early days of Japanese history. The music, when performed alone, is called gagaku (‘refined/ceremonial music’).
