EDAW. Acronym for a firm of landscape-architects that evolved from a partnership formed by Eckbo, Francis Dean, Don Austin, and Edward A. Williams. This large concern established offices throughout the world, carrying out work from small gardens to huge proposals for the conservation of huge areas of natural landscape. Among schemes may be cited the redesign of the centre of Washington, DC (from 1976), EuroDisney, Marne-la-Vallée, France (early 1990s), and Eco City, Tokyo, Japan (1992–4).
