Coke, Humphrey (
fl. 1496–d. 1531). English master-carpenter. He worked on the
cloisters at Eton College (1510–11), and on Corpus Christi College, Oxford (1514–18): he seems, with William
Vertue, to have drawn up the plans from which the college was built. He was one of the masters of the works at Cardinal (later Christ Church) College, Oxford, from 1525, where he designed the roof of the Great Hall, the last and one of the finest works of medieval carpentry. There is no doubt that his skills included architectural expertise.
