Becerra, Francisco
Becerra, Francisco (c.1545–1605). Spanish-born architect. He settled in Mexico in 1573, where he worked on the Cathedral of Puebla, probably to designs by Claudio de Arciniega. He was mostly responsible for the design of the Cathedrals of Cuzco (1582–1654) and Lima (1582–1662), both in Peru and built from 1598. Becerra adopted the somewhat severe style of mid-C16 Spain, although the façade of Cuzco Cathedral was an ornate and rather clumsy Baroque.
