Barré, Jean-Benoît-Vincent (
c.1732–1824). French architect. The best of his town-houses (e.g. Hôtel Grimod de la Reynière, Champs-Élysées, Paris (1769) ), are known to us only through drawings, but his ingeniously planned Château Montgeoffroy (1771–6), Anjou, survives. He designed some of the
fabriques in the celebrated Parc de Méréville, and built the Château du Marais, Remarde, south of Paris. He designed the Place Royale, Brussels, Belgium, realized by Gilles-Barnabé Guimard (
c.1734–92) in the 1770s.
