Keisuke Okada
The Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition | Date: 2008
Keisuke Okada , 1862-1952, Japanese statesman and admiral. He was (1927-29, 1932-34) minister of the navy before serving (1934-36) as premier. He resigned the premiership after the abortive military coup of Feb., 1936, in which he narrowly escaped assassination. At the close of World War II, he was a key figure in pressing for a compromise peace.
