Mazatlán
Mazatlán , city (1990 pop. 262,705), Sinaloa state, W Mexico, on the Pacific coast. One of the largest commercial and industrial centers of W Mexico, Mazatlán is one of Mexico's major Pacific seaports. It is on a railroad between the United States and Mexico City, and its location makes it the country's primary ferry link to Baja California. Although the climate is hot, Mazatlán is a popular resort with a beautiful setting. Spanish colonial trade with the Philippines stimulated the development of the port.
