Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig Leichhardt

Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig Leichhardt , 1813-1848?, Prussian explorer of Australia. He led (1844-45) an expedition from Moreton Bay to Port Essington and in 1848 set out from Moreton Bay to cross the central part of the continent east to west. After sending a message from Macpherson's Station, on the Cogoon River, he disappeared. No trace of him was ever discovered.
