Kopacz, Ewa
Ewa Kopacz, 1956–, Polish politician. A graduate of the Medical Univ. of Lublin (1981), she worked as a pediatrician and as a health-care administrator. Kopacz was first elected to parliament as a member of the Civic Platform party, and served as minister of health (2007–11) and speaker of parliament (2011–14). She succeeded Donald Tusk as prime minister (2014) when he left to become president of the EU's European Council.
