Jehoahaz or Joahaz . 1 In Second Kings, king of Israel (c.821-805 BC), son and successor of Jehu. He presided over an era of severe reduction of territory and prestige for the northern kingdom. 2 In the Bible, king of Judah for three months in 609 BC after the death of his father Josiah in battle against the Egyptians. Pharaoh Neco II removed Jehoahaz to Egypt and substituted Jehoiakim, his brother, in his place. He is also called Shallum. 3 Mentioned in Second Chronicles, where Ahaziah is meant. See Ahaziah 2.
