Sister of Suleiman. Name variations: Hatice Sultana. Born in Trebizond, a Black Sea caravan city in Asia Minor (present-day Turkey); daughter of Selim I the Grim (r. 1512–1520) and Hafsa Hatun (d. 1534); sister of Suleiman or Suleyman I, Ottoman sultan (r. 1520–1566); sister-in-law of Roxelana .
Hatice Sultana was born in Trebizond, a Black Sea caravan city in Asia Minor, the daughter of Selim I the Grim and Hafsa Hatun . She was the sister of Suleiman I, the great Ottoman sultan. It is thought that Hatice married Ibrahim Pasha, Suleiman's grand vizier (prime minister), in May 1524; Ibrahim was executed by Hatice's brother in 1536.
