Stein, Eduardo (1945–)
Eduardo Stein was elected vice president of Guatemala, serving with President Oscar Berger, the leader of a center-right political coalition, in 2004. From 1996 to 2000, Stein was the foreign minister in the administration of President Álvaro Arzú. At the Organization of American States (OAS), the United Nations, and the International Organization for Migration, Stein worked to promote regional agreements for the solution of internal problems. In Peru in 2000 he led the OAS election-observation delegation, which became the first in OAS history to judge an election to have failed to meet international standards.
