Latin American Studies Association
The Latin American Studies Association, commonly known as LASA, is the world's largest organization of scholars interested in Latin American studies. Founded in 1966, it is comprised of more than 5,000 members from around the world, but especially from the western hemisphere. LASA holds international conferences for the exchange of scholarly discourse, and publishes the highly regarded multidisciplinary scholarly journal Latin American Research Review. LASA also takes public stands on issues important to contemporary Latin America.
