Jacquillat, Jean-Pierre, French conductor; b. Versailles, July 13, 1935; d. in an automobile accident in Chambo-sur-Lignon, Aug. 6, 1986. He was educated at the Paris Cons., winning premiers prix in harmony, percussion, and piano, and also studied conducting with Munch, Cluytens, and Dervaux. He was asst. conductor (1967) and assoc. conductor (1968) of the Orch. de Paris; toured with it in the Soviet Union, North America, and Mexico. In 1970 he was named resident conductor and music director of the Angers Phil., and in 1971 he became permanent conductor of the Lyons Opera and the Rhône-Alpes Phil. He then was resident conductor and music adviser to the Lamoureux Orch. in Paris (1975–78), and subsequently chief conductor of the Iceland Sym. Orch. in Reykjavik (1980–86).
