Donath, Helen [ Erwin, Helen] (b Corpus Christi, Texas, 1940). Amer. soprano. Sang Inez in Il trovatore, Cologne 1960. Member of Cologne Opera 1962–3; Hanover 1963–7; Salzburg Fest. 1967; Amer. début (S. Francisco) 1971; CG 1979. Roles incl. Ilia, Zerlina, Mimi, Martinů's Julietta, and the Governess in The Turn of the Screw. Frequent recitalist in Lieder and concert-hall choral works. Husband is Klaus Donath, former mus. dir. Darmstadt Opera.
