Nanjiō Bunyū

Nanjiō Bunyū ( Nanjō) Bunyū (1849–1927). Japanese Buddhist scholar who was one of the first to study in Europe and introduce W. methodologies in Buddhist studies to Japan. He edited the Skt. texts of Pure Land sūtras, the Lotus Sūtra, and compiled A Catalogue of the Chinese Translation of the Buddhist Tripiṭaka (1883).
