Wembley
Wembley Complex of sports stadiums in Wembley, nw London. The outdoor Empire Stadium, with its twin towers, built for the 1924 Empire Exhibition, was used for the finals of the FA Cup, Football League Cup, and Rugby League Cup, as well as England's home international football matches. In the nearby covered arena of the Empire Pool, ice shows and pop concerts share the facilities with boxing, show-jumping, and other sports. In 1996, Wembley received funding for a complete rebuild to make it the official National Sports Stadium.
