Macedonian Empires in Asia: From the Diadochi to Bactria

The song is Λιανοτράγουδο - Lianotragoudo from Eleftheria Arvanitaki (ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΙΑ ΑΡΒΑΝΙΤΑΚΗ). After Alexander the Great conquered Northern India, defeating Poros Seleucus at the battle of the Hydaspes river , he fell ill and shortly after, died. His successors, the Diadochi (Διάδοχοι) divided the Macedoian Empire among themselves. Seleucus I Nikator (Σέλευκος Νικάτωρ) controlled Asia. Diodotus (ΔΙΟΔΟΤΟΣ) branched out and founded the Greco-Bactrian Kingdom. Menander I Soter (Μένανδρος Σωτήρ) expanded the boundaries by invading deeper into India and established the Greco Indian Kingdom. In these Kingdoms, Hellenism mixed with local cultures, including Buddhism, forming hybrid cultures.
