Please note that Puerto Rico may be considered both as part of the Spanish and American Caribbean depending on whether you look at it from a cultural or political perspective. Please know that independent nations are listed at the end of each region so as to not mix them with dependencies. Suriname, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Haiti, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Christopher and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago are all independent nations. Guyana, Suriname, French Guyana, and Belize are not islands but are culturally considered a part of the Caribbean. Saint Christopher and Nevis is the official name of Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Sint Eustatius is the official name of Statia.
