The Men of the Great Assembly and The Zugoth

A continuation of the "Oral Torah" series. Addresses the history of the Second Temple period, beginning with Nehemiah and Ezra, the expanded Council of Elders composed of 120 members, about 30 of them prophets. Those great sages fixed regulations and laws, canonizing and shutting the Hebrew Bible (the Tanakh), fixing three prayers and most importantly - teaching the Torah. The video introduces the very early rabbis - the Zugot (the "pairs"), who were the leaders of the nation. The next clip, "Tanna'im and Amora'im", will deal with the authoritative power of the rabbis, try to refute both Christian and Islamic argumentations, and possibly Karaite, even though it is not our subject.
