War and Peace --Film 2--'Natasha Rostova'

from the Russian Film masterpiece "War and Peace", directed by Sergei Bondarchuk. This segment shows the great Russian Tsar, Alexander I ("the Beloved") at a grand ball in Saint Petersburg. Tsar Alexander and General Kutuzov were later to hold back the tide of Napoleonic conquest. Director Sergei Bondarchuk shows up in this segment at 5:24--the man in the powder blue suit, "Pierre Bezhukov".
