Professor Deborah Contrada on the Sacco-Vanzetti Case

Professor Deborah Contrada shares her views on the Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti case. The Italian-born anarchists were convicted of a double homicide in the 1920s, as a result of their alleged involvement in the robbery and killings of a payroll clerk and a security guard for a shoe factory, in South Braintree, MA. They were executed on Aug. 23, 1927. During this time frame, anti-Italian and anti-immigrant attitudes were prevalent. In addition, immigrants holding anarchist political views were deportable. Professor Contrada's lecture was held at Loyola College. It was sponsored by its Center for Humanities.
