Kerry Decker TV Show: A Tour of Cape Kennedy (1983)

More highlights from my "NightLife Show" which ran on local cable TV in FL from 1980-1986. This condensed 2-part episode features a tour of Cape Kennedy before the 1st night launch of Challenger / STS-8. You'll see the historic launch pads from the 1st Redstone rockets to the huge Saturn 1B. The famous rocket sled is shown as well as the monument dedicated to the original Mercury 7. Launch Control & the Vehicle Assembly Building are shown in close-up. You'll also see the parking area for all the visitors and the press area for the TV networks. All of this was in preparation for the first night launch of a shuttle: STS-8 and the Challenger in August 1983. PART TWO will actually cover the night launch itself. Not to be missed! Air Date: October 14, 1983
