Avalokiteshvara - Lou Harrison

Daniel Foley (guitar), Jeff Brown (glockenspeil), Harlan Otter(glockenspeil), and Vincent Ramirez (timpani) perform Lou Harrison's Avalokiteshvara in Daniel Foley's Junior Recital. The piece was originally composed for harp, 2 waterbowls or bells, and drums. The transcription for guitar is by David Tanenbaum. An interesting fact: Lou Harrison, who was an important American composer of the mid to late twentieth century, taught for many years at San Jose State University School of Music where Daniel currently studies classical guitar performance and composition. Lou Harrison is one of Daniel's favorite composers and Daniel chose to put this piece on his Jr. Recital program because he felt it reflects his SJSU musical heritage and his pride in being a SJSU music student.
