A traveling ALMA radio telescope

The Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) is a major 21st Century radio astronomy project that will open new windows for astronomers to study the origin and evolution of our Universe. This video by the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) highlights the science that ALMA will accomplish and follows the first ALMA antenna or radio telescope as it travels from the VertexRSI production facility in Kilgore, Texas, USA thru the port of Houston to the Atacama Desert of northern Chile and the ALMA site, which is in the beautiful but harsh, high-elevation Atacama Desert. The ALMA Project is a partnership between the scientific communities of East Asia, Europe, and North America with Chile. The video was shot by FilmoSonido (Santiago, Chile), Sirius Video (Houston, TX, USA), and Forbes & Butler (Kilgore, TX, USA).
