SB BNSF Snowstorm Lexington Ave. Norman, OK 11-30-2006.wmv

An arctic cold front moved into Oklahoma yesterday, November 29, 2006 bringing an end to the Indian Summer weather that had prevailed over the last few weeks, and a massive arctic air mass has now settled over the region. Now, it's November 30 and this monster winter storm system is bringing heavy snow to most of the state of Oklahoma, with some areas in the northern part of the state receiving as much as a foot of snow. Classes at OU are cancelled due to the weather, and most of the smart people are inside keeping warm with friends/family or watching TV or whatever. And so, what do I decide to do? Here in Norman, OK, at 6PM, during the worst part of it all, heavy blowing snow is falling and accumulating quickly as a southbound BNSF manifest train drudges southward through the Lexington Avenue grade crossing on the north side of town. The ex-BN loco features a sharp RS3K horn that carries very well with temperatures in the mid teens and windchills below zero. My fingers and ears loved every minute of it...
