Johnny Snatch and the Poontang Cowboys

Since 1956-1957, making music from the basement of the Coors Brewery in Golden Colorado. Legend has it that the band "Johnny Snatch and the Poontang Cowboys" started off making music in the basement of Coors Brewery in Golden Colorado back in 1956-1957, playing during the graveyard shift on their "lunch break". The band discovered the "reverb and echo" combination that would later be a main staple for all amplifiers and record producers, completely by accident. Due to noisy machinery at the brewery, the band would play in an enormous empty copper vat that was supposed to be for grain storage, but it became the practice room for many decades. The natural echo and reverb of the practice room gave the band a unique sound. Truck driver Elvis Presley was making a beer run from Tupelo Mississippi to the Coors brewery for a merchant and as fate would have it, he got lost looking for the loading dock door, walked past the copper vat that the band practiced in, heard the sound, and later recorded Heartbreak Hotel using the first known reverb and echo on vinyl. The owner of the brewery, Adolph Coors, allowed the band to practice in the basement because he was told the band played nothing but traditional German polka music. He didn't approve of this new Rock n' Roll music and the boys in the band would have been fired on the spot if the boss ever found out. As a result, the band has always been in seclusion and never received the recognition they deserve. The landscape of the brewery has changed over the years, but the legend of Johnny Snatch and the Poontang Cowboys lives on!
