October 1970 DVD

In October 1970, the political landscape of Canada changed forever. Terrorists from the Front de liberation du Québec (FLQ) burst into the Montreal residence of British diplomat James Cross and kidnapped him. Five days later, another FLQ cell snatched Pierre Laporte, Quebecs Minister of Labour, from his front lawn. By October 17th, Laporte had been killed, the police were overwhelmed, the city was in chaos, and the army, in full battle gear, patrolled the streets. Ottawa invoked The War Measures Act and, in 3,000 raids, carried out without warrants of any kind, over 450 people were arrested. This riveting 8-part drama recalls the chaos and turmoil of those times. It is equal parts detective thriller, hostage drama, and political nail-biter. Gritty and intense, the drama parachutes viewers into the action, allowing them to see events through the eyes of the kidnappers, the victims, the police and the politicians. Starring R.H. Thompson, Denis Bernard, Patrick L'Abbé, Hugo St-Cyr, and Karine Vanasse. The 2-disc DVD set includes the complete 8 part series plus bonus features.
