Wingless Gall Wasp on the Snow

A wingless female of gall wasp (aka gallfly, family Cynipidae) walking on the snowy mountain track. They are known to be parthenogenetic in winter and lay eggs in the winter bud of oak trees. Late-December 2008 in Japan. Soundtrack (audioswapped): Crushed Stars - Snow Day
