Bodas de sangre (Saura), Antonio Gades, Cristina Hoyos (1980)

Bodas de sangre (Blood Wedding) is based on the Lorca work, and was the first of Carlos Saura's flamenco trilogy. Antonio Gades (who was also the choreographer) and Cristina Hoyos play the ill-fated lovers, who dance their farewells before she marries someone she doesn't love. She is serenaded by two singers, with Lorca's "Despierta la novia, despierta" (may the bride awaken). At the end of the clip she looks like one of the most unhappy brides I've ever seen! The setting is spare-it takes place inside a bare rehearsal hall. The dancing is superb!
