The Gift of Cochise - Louis L'Amour

This reading is from the beginning of Louis L'Amour's story, "The Gift of Cochise", as included in the anthology of his short stories titled, "The Collected Short Stories of Louis L'Amour, The Frontier Stories, Volume One". This is a really great book, and this first story is a wonderful example of just how good all of the tales are in this collection. The Gift of Cochise is primarily set in Dog Canyon, in the Guadalupe Mountains in West Texas. The photographs included in this video are from Dog Canyon, which is now part of the Guadalupe Mountains National Park. This book was published in 2003 and can still be purchased on-line, if you have an interest in reading further.
