JMDMT #2482 Microfossils of Cyanobacteria in Carbonaceous Meteorites

The James M. DuPont Meteorite Collection - was detected in either sample by petrographic analyses. Silicates are anhedral to subeuhedral and are slightly oriented. Both orthopyroxene (Opx) and augite (Aug) meet olivine with triple junctions and sometimes have round interfacial boundaries. Orthopyroxene includes rare, small, round grains of olivine (FRO 93008) or olivine and augite (FRO 90054). Metal and troilite occur in veins and swarms of droplets inside the silicates, sometimes with an overall isooriented distribution. The PTS of FRO 93008 is compositionally heterogeneous, consisting of three subparallel irregular "belts." The central belt consists of olivine and augite with traces of orthopyroxene, and the two adjacent areas of olivine and orthopyroxene with minor augite. Two
