Real Deal: Recession Firing Excuse?

PHILADELPHIA - The recession has resulted in the highest unemployment rates in years, but is the economy providing a curtain for employers to fire employees for the wrong reasons? A woman who worked at a local company for 15 years was berated the minute she announced her pregnancy, told by her boss that she let him down, that there was no way she could do her job pregnant, that she would have to take a demotion with a salary cut and finally, that her job was being eliminated due to the economy. Only, it wasn't. Less than one month later, letters and flyers went out trumpeting her replacement, a man she recruited to fill in for her during maternity leave. Similar stories are popping up everywhere. Employers may be using the recession to masquerade discrimination and wrongful termination. What are the warning signs that your job may have been terminated for the wrong reasons? Here are unfair reasons for termination: * Sexual Harassment * Race * Gender * Pregnancy * Disability * Sexual orientation * FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) * Retaliation (by co-worker, supervisor or management) * Humiliation Source: www.unfairlyfired.com Fore more information please visit www.unfairlyfired.com or call 1-800 NOT FAIR
