Weaving cloth for Matthew Part 1

My 5 1/2 year old grandson, Matthew, asked me what weaving was when I mentioned it to him on the phone. I told him it was a way to make cloth. He didn't understand how I could make cloth so I promised to do a video for him and show him what I was doing. This is that video. I am weaving an overshot coverlet in the Pine Bloom Pattern. There is more detailed information on weaving overshot in my video called Weaving an Overshot Coverlet on my Spin2Weave channel. This is very basic on how a loom works and how to weave with two shuttles. I am using a cotton pattern weft since I am making this coverlet for a friend who will want to toss it in the washer, and to see how it would work. The sett is 20 EPI using mercerized white cotton which is also being used for the tabby weft. This will be a small lap coverlet - my loom is only 32 inches and this should finish to be about 28 inches wide and 45 inches long. Overshot is probably my favorite of all things to weave, and this is one of my favorite patterns. When I finish this I'm going to make a coverlet for myself in the same pattern using unmercerized cotton and wool. This video is also continued in Part 2 - with details of how the cloth "grows as you toss the shuttle" and advancing the warp.
