Elgar Uncut home movies

A collection of home movies of Elgar, along with his dogs, Mina and Marco, and his daughter Carice. The still pictures including a local paper shot of Elgar with the then current British prime minister Stanley Baldwin. Churchill wrote of Baldwin on the occasion Baldwin's 80th birthday in 1947, referring to Baldwin's conciliatory stance towards Hitler: "I wish Stanley Baldwin no ill, but it would have been much better had he never lived." The short music extracts include the Violin Concerto (Menuhin and Elgar), Serenade for Strings slow movement (Barbirolli), Introduction and Allegro (Barbirolli), Symphony no.2 scherzo (Boult) and Ave Verum Corpus (Neil Taylor conducting the Sheffield Cathedral Choir).
